Grades 3 – 5
Comprehensive art curriculum for Grades 3–5, focusing on core skills, creative exploration, art history, and interdisciplinary connections, with a primary focus on drawing.

Grades 6 – 8 | Thursdays 3:30-5:00pm

A series of youth classes that use science, technology, engineering and mathematics to create bigger, better, and more exciting art projects! As well as building on critical thinking skills, these classes will show students how knowledge from different areas can be put together to make beautiful art! We will learn about color and texture through interesting science experiments such as slime making, structural strength in constructed forms with engineering such as mask making, and repetition and measurement with math in activities like pattern creation in printmaking.

Grades 3 – 5

For those who are passionate and hungry to make art, PA II will elevate students to a competitive level of performance in musical theatre. This class will feed directly into TCA’s Community Musical as all PA II students will be featured in the ensemble. In addition to performing, students will develop an audition repertoire to use in future.

Grades 6-12

Students who join the Club will focus on a variety of theatrical disciplines, including acting, directing, stage management, and playwriting with Hananel Mavity Jackson throughout the school year, allowing participants to express themselves and develop their skills. She encourages creativity and self-expression, offering a supportive atmosphere where members can share their ideas and work on projects together. Through these experiences, participants often form lasting friendships and develop a love for the arts that can influence their future endeavors.

Opportunities for leadership, such as choreographing or managing the technical aspects of a production, empower members to take initiative and grow in their roles. Each member of TCA’s Performing Arts Club will participate in the Community Musical under Hananel’s direction.

Resilient Expression is a short film series by filmmaker Parker Watt spotlighting Ukrainian artists living in Estonia and exploring how art fosters healing, cultural preservation, and connection in the aftermath of war. The screening includes an introduction, intermission, post-film Q&A, and light refreshments, and is presented with the participation of Covey Film Festival.

Through her art, advocacy, and inclusive programming, Dixie Lee Hedrington-Miller continues to inspire and uplift communities, demonstrating the profound impact of creativity on individual and collective well-being.

A quarterly community dinner celebrating the art of intentional gathering. Enjoy thoughtful conversation and curated food and drink as we build a community around one big table. Guests will gather at a long table in the Center’s Main Gallery to share a meal, engage in meaningful conversation, and enjoy the current exhibit as a backdrop. After dinner, everyone is invited to participate in a fun, collaborative art project.

Join Ink Portal, the first Wednesday of every month for a welcoming space for teens and adults to write, workshop, and explore literature together. Led by a local writer or educator, each monthly session includes guided writing time, group discussion, and community reading.

Held in the Center’s Parker Poe Library Gallery, Ink Portal encourages creativity, connection, and opportunities for feedback and publication. Free and open to the public.

This year’s theme honors the Thomas County bicentennial with 200 pieces for 200 years — a vibrant showcase of creativity that reflects the stories, spirit, and soul of our community.

Join artist-instructor Laura Patrick for a morning of painting and community.
Participants will turn a blank canvas into a work of art creating their own 8″ x 10″ painting. No prior painting experience is needed! We will experiment with brushes and color learning to mix acrylics and achieve different line weights and shapes.

Ink Portal Intensive is a three-day immersive workshop devoted to the heart and essence of creative writing. Building on the spirit of our monthly gatherings that began in August 2024, this extended experience invites folks of all ages and backgrounds who share a love for literary arts to come together at TCA to connect, write, and share.

Over the course of three days, participants will slow down, dig deeper into their creative practice, and build meaningful connections in a warm, welcoming community space. Whether you are brand new to creative writing or a published author, you’ll leave feeling creatively nourished, inspired, and supported.

Each day includes:

• a thoughtful mix of curated readings
• dedicated writing workshop time
• supportive feedback circles
• fun, creative, laid‑back opportunities for connection

This is a space to get inspired, flex your writing brain, and deepen your relationship with your own voice—together.

This class is perfect for both beginners and those looking to refresh their watercolor skills. We’ll explore a variety of subjects, from vibrant florals to serene landscapes, allowing you to experiment and find your unique style.
