Engaging team exercises, script work, and improvisation games, help even experienced young actors develop strong communication, public speaking, and collaboration skills. Our non-competitive environment encourages children to take creative risks and build lasting self-esteem, all building up to a student performance on Thursday, December 17.

Join local artist Hillery Allen Barrow for a fun-filled evening of painting and sipping, guided step-by-step in creating a stunning oil masterpiece.

No experience necessary! Grab your favorite drink, relax, and let your creativity flow. We provide all the supplies, including canvas, paints, and brushes. Join Ink Portal, the first Tuesday of every month for a welcoming space for teens and adults to write, workshop, and explore literature together. Led by a local writer or educator, each monthly session includes guided writing time, group discussion, and community reading.

Held in the Center’s Parker Poe Library Gallery, Ink Portal encourages creativity, connection, and opportunities for feedback and publication.

Join us for a fun-filled evening of painting a custom masterpiece of your very own pet!

This is a wonderful opportunity to get expert instruction as you create a piece personal to your life and loved ones. Once you’ve registered, you’ll submit a clear photo (or multiple photos, if you like) of your pet by email and artist-instructor Hillery Allen Barrow will prepare your canvas for when you arrive. Your canvas will have your pet’s sketch penciled on so you can get right to painting! Hillery will walk you through the steps and techniques to bring your furry, feathered, finned, or scaled friend to life in paint.

No experience necessary: Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, you’ll leave with a beautiful piece of art to cherish. Come unwind, socialize, and discover your hidden artistic talent.

Welcome to the wonderful world of needle felting!

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn about the tools and techniques of needle felting while making your own needle felted mushroom sculpture to take home.

A Thomasville native, Jaime Moody has returned after 25 years away to teach at Scholar’s Academy. She has been an artist all her life and considers herself an eclectic artist, always exploring new materials, techniques, and creative possibilities. In a portfolio that spans mixed media, drawing, charcoal and pastels, photography, crafting, and fiber arts, one of her greatest passions is needle felting, an art form she have been practicing for about five years. She loves the creativity and versatility of fiber arts and enjoys bringing imaginative ideas to life through felt. She believes creativity is a wonderful way to explore, connect, and express ourselves.
