Write It, Show It, Sing It, Tell It!

Recycled thrift store items are given new life in this fantastic retelling based on the Collodi Classic text. In this original one-man “tour d farce,” found-object puppet characters are constructed from kitchen utensils, baskets, and tennis rackets.

Post-show workshops for students and teachers, and “Charles Schulz,” an exhibition under the direction of Lindsey Bailey and her students.

Each season, the Center’s Visiting Artists enter the local schools to lead students in fine arts lessons, arts-intigrative lectures,
and professional artistic demonstrations in various genres.

Song-Writing Workshop
Grades 4 & 5 • October 20, 2017

Model the creative process with one of Timmy Abell’s original songs. Students learn tools for songwriting and melody development as they create simple new verses and tunes for traditional folk songs.

Puppetry Arts Workshop
Grades 4 & 5 • October 20, 2017

Susanna Abell explores puppet techniques and introduces students to a wide range of puppetry styles from around the world. Plus, a puppet-making demonstration, character-building exercises, and storytelling.

“Glue & You” Puppet-Making
Grades PreK & K • February 22 & 23, 2018

Clever paper sculpture puppets perfect for all ages. Students are led through a workshop with step-by-step instruction. “Glue & You” kits include wooden control rods, large wiggle eyes, and pre-cut shapes. Just add glue and personality!
